Est. July 2008
South Africa's original
parcel tracking site.
From a broken post office website to a complete courier directory — the story of ParcelTrack.co.za.
Our Story
How It All Started
In July 2008, online shopping in South Africa was still in its infancy — and the
SA Post Office was the backbone of parcel delivery for most South Africans. Whether
it was an eBay purchase shipped from overseas or a local package, parcels almost always moved
through the Post Office's Speed Services network.
The problem? The Post Office's own tracking website was notoriously unreliable — slow, broken,
and regularly offline for days at a time. South Africans had no easy way to check where their
parcels were. After spending far too much time fighting with that broken system, the founder of
ParcelTrack.co.za figured out a workaround — a smarter way to query the Post Office tracking
system and surface results reliably.
ParcelTrack.co.za launched as a simple, fast, always-online alternative to the Post Office's
own tracker. Word spread quickly. For several years, ParcelTrack.co.za was the most
popular parcel tracking website in South Africa — serving hundreds of thousands of
South Africans who just wanted to know where their parcel was.
Timeline
July 2008 — Launch
Born out of frustration
ParcelTrack.co.za goes live, offering reliable SA Post Office and Speed Services tracking
at a time when the Post Office's own site was chronically broken. The response from the
South African public is immediate — the site quickly becomes a go-to resource.
2009 – 2013 — Growth
Expanding beyond the Post Office
As South Africa's e-commerce landscape grows, so does the need for broader courier
tracking. ParcelTrack.co.za begins adding support for RAM, Courier IT, DHL, and
international services including USPS, Royal Mail, and UPS — becoming a true
one-stop tracking directory.
2014 – 2022 — Dormancy
Other commitments take over
The founder steps back from active development due to other professional commitments.
The site remains online and functional, but receives limited updates. South Africa's
shipping landscape begins to shift dramatically during this period.
2022 – 2024 — The Landscape Changes
The Post Office collapses; private couriers take over
After years of financial difficulty and service deterioration, the SA Post Office
effectively collapses as a parcel delivery service. In its place, a new generation
of private local couriers emerges — The Courier Guy, Fastway, Pargo, Bob Go, PAXI,
PostNet and others rapidly become the default way South Africans send and receive parcels.
2025 / 2026 — Revival
ParcelTrack.co.za is back
The site has been fully rebuilt and redesigned from the ground up. All current SA couriers
have been added, broken links fixed, and the site modernised for today's shipping landscape.
The mission remains the same as it was in 2008: one place
to track any parcel, for free, without hassle.
What We Are
Independent & Unaffiliated
ParcelTrack.co.za is an independent, privately run directory. We are not
affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any of the couriers listed on this site.
We do not handle, dispatch, or deliver parcels. We do not have access to your tracking data
beyond what each courier's own website publicly provides.
When you click Track on our site, we simply open the relevant courier's own tracking page with
your tracking number already filled in. All actual tracking information comes directly from the
courier's systems.
For any questions about a specific parcel, please contact the relevant courier directly.
You can find all courier contact numbers on our Contact page.
